About

My name is Jacob Nieves

I go by Supplant. I am a multi-styled artist based in Los Angeles, California. Born in Brooklyn, New York, I moved around before settling in Orlando, Florida. My journey in art began in childhood, drawing inspiration from my father, who, though absent from my life, sent me drawings that fueled my desire to become a better artist. Over time, I realized that art is not about competition but about expression. This revelation led me to educate myself about the art world, as I couldn’t afford formal schooling.

My work is inspired by the vibrant graffiti, street art, and diverse cultures of Brooklyn, Orlando, and Los Angeles. Influences such as Warhol, Basquiat, Shepard Fairey, Banksy, and Ed Ruscha have significantly shaped my artistic vision.

Initially, I primarily used acrylics in my paintings but have since transitioned to oils, which allow me to explore new depths and textures in my work. My creative process is dynamic and ever-evolving, reflecting my growth and adaptability as an artist.

I have showcased my work in multiple art shows in both Orlando and Los Angeles, reaching hundreds of people and sharing my unique vision with a broader audience. My aim is to convey resistance, conviction, humor, and passion through my art. I want viewers to enjoy my work at first glance and then discover deeper meanings as they engage with it more closely.

Looking ahead, I envision Supplant Studios expanding beyond traditional canvases to encompass a wide array of creative projects. My dream is to elevate Supplant Studios to a global creative provider on par with giants like Walt Disney.
